Inflammed skin harbours Th9 cells.
Various effector CD4 + T-lymphocyte subsets have been characterized, such as T-helper (Th)1, Th2, regulatory CD4 + T cells (Treg), Th17, and Th22, which show distinct patterns of cytokine release. Specifically, the cytokine interleukin (IL)-9 has been regarded largely as an exclusive Th2 cytokine. However, a new subset of the Th population, named " Th9 " , which is separate from Th2, producing ...
متن کاملTh9 cells: differentiation and disease.
CD4(+) T-helper cells regulate immunity and inflammation through the acquisition of potential to secrete specific cytokines. The acquisition of cytokine-secreting potential, in a process termed T-helper cell differentiation, is a response to multiple environmental signals including the cytokine milieu. The most recently defined subset of T-helper cells are termed Th9 and are identified by the ...
متن کاملTh9 cells induce steroid-resistant bronchial hyperresponsiveness in mice.
BACKGROUND Reduced responsiveness to corticosteroid therapy is a major problem for patients with severe asthma. Although Th9 cells, along with Th2 cells, facilitate antigen-induced airway eosinophilia and bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR), the sensitivity of Th9 cell-mediated responses to steroid therapy remains unknown. In this study, we investigated the effect of dexamethasone (Dex) on anti...
متن کاملOncolytic virotherapy for advanced liver tumours
Primary and metastatic neoplasms of the liver account for more than a million deaths per year worldwide. Despite decades of research, effective novel therapies for these cancers are urgently needed. Oncolytic virotherapeutics represent a novel class of pharmacophore that holds promise for the treatment of hepatic neoplasms. Cancer-specific replication is followed by oncolysis, virus spreading a...
متن کاملUtilizing TH9 cells as a novel therapeutic strategy for malignancies
TH9 cells join the ever-growing list of CD4+ T helper subsets and primarily mediate anti-parasite immune responses. We have recently demonstrated that tumor-specific TH9 cells induce a CCL20-CCR6-dependent regulation of DCs while stimulating CD8+ T cell-mediated antitumor immunity. These findings offer a novel immunotherapeutic strategy against cancer.
